Lupita D'Alessio Concert to Celebrate Mother's Day

The Culture Secretariat of Mexico City announced a series of special events to celebrate Mother's Day. In addition to a special concert by the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, the major concert by Lupita D'Alessio, a Mexican music icon, at the Zócalo of Mexico City on May 10 was highlighted as part of her farewell tour.

Ana Francis Mor, Secretary of Culture, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to sing to all Mexican women on this special day. The ruling Clara Brugada Molina also joined the celebration, urging not to give household appliances and promoting a more meaningful approach to showing appreciation to mothers.

Lupita D'Alessio, also known as the "Sleeping Lion," gained recognition in music after winning the OTI Song Festival in 1978, projecting her to international fame. During her career, she participated in soap operas and released numerous musical hits that made her a reference in her country.

Lupita D'Alessio's concert at the Zócalo will be the culmination of her farewell tour "Gracias," offering her audience the opportunity to enjoy her iconic songs. D'Alessio will perform memorable songs such as "Lo siento mi amor" and "Mudanzas," which have left a mark on Mexican music.

Moreover, other cultural activities will be carried out to commemorate Mother's Day. This includes performances like "Mi Paloma" by Victoria Hanna and the photographic exhibition "Urban Midwives, Between Heritage and Coloniality" in Chapultepec Forest. These proposals aim to honor motherhood and highlight the work of women in society.
